Gunungkidul is a regency of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, where known as barren area and has minimum fine water. This phenomenon happens because of Gunungkidul is lied on above 300 underground rivers, so that the water in the surface seeps down and flowing in those underground river. The surface, it contains limestone, so that makes the water seeps down more. But there is a benefit of it, the water tastes very good.
From all of that matter, there is something that really interesting in this place. Gunungkidul has wonderful scenery. One of the scenery it has is Goa Pindul (Pindul Cave). It is located in Goa Pindul, Gelaran, Karangmojo, Gunungkidul, D.I. Yogyakarta. Goa Pindul is a wonderful cave with stalactite and stalagmite which known as the fourth in the world. It has 300 meters to go inside. One of its stalactite is known as the fourth of the biggest in the world.
The first thing when we came to this place, it has lack of parking area. It was limited and not well organized. Then we entered the Goa Pindul gate and paid for the entrance tickets. It cost IDR 90,000 for caving in Goa Pindul and rafting in Kali Oya river. After that, we were given a rubber tires and a safety guard for each of us, and we were guided the the cave entrance. We entered the cave one by one and guided by some life guards, to go inside the cave.
There, inside the cave, there were so many stalactite and stalagmite. One of the biggest of the stalactite was known as the fourth of the biggest in the world. And there was a stalagmite that is believed it could make a man and a women become 'strong' (in bed, xoxoxo ...) It was quite interesting. There was wad of crystal which adhere the the stalactite. There were much animals, like bats, fox, swallows, etc.
The water depth was about 0 up to 7 meters from the surface. It would sinks everyone who couldn't swim or just an amateur swimmer. They did not allow every guest to swim there. The reason was because the depth and the substructure of the river, so much stone. It was totally different with the pool. It was so dangerous to swim, even for prefessional, since inside the cave was so dark and full of stalactite and stalagmite. It was quite scary.
After browsed the inside of Goa Pindul cave, we went to Kali Oya river for rafting. We followed the guide, and riding the Jeep to Kali Oya river. It is an off road. Yahohoho ...
On the river, we were allowed to swim freely, but not allowed to put the safety guard off because of the depth. On the way while we were rafting, there were a tiny bridge is a jumping area. Whoever who wanna jump to the river, just jump from there. The water depth is the same, about 0 up to 7 meters. Then about 15 meters, there was a waterfall. Not so high ones.
After rafting, we were going to the main entrance. The time was already at noon, and we were already tired. It is time to go home. On the way to home, we eat some food. Mie ayam bakso to warm our cold bodies, it was a good idea.
That's it!
